About Wheat Straw
Wheat straw is made from 30-40% plant-based materials and polypropylene (PP). This results in a durable, food-grade material that won't break easily when used by your guests.
After harvest, wheat straw, an agricultural byproduct, is typically burned onsite, contributing to air pollution. By incorporating wheat straw into products, Sustayne provides an additional revenue stream for farmers while diverting straw from pollutive burning.
When burned, it releases pollutants and green house gases like C02 and methane which contributes to air pollution and climate change.
Additionally, by introducing wheat straw into PP, use of conventional plastic is reduced. For instance, Sustayne estimates that for every 3,120,000 wheat straw razors produced, approximately 7 tons of wheat straw is saved from burning and 7 tons of plastic avoided.
Overall, choosing wheat straw products helps repurpose waste while reducing environmental impact.
Important Note: This item is crafted from a unique blend of plant-based materials and polypropylene, reducing the use of traditional plastics. To ensure proper disposal, please note that it should not be composted or recycled.
